St Bartholomew-the-Less

The church was founded in 1184 as a chapel to St Bartholomew's Hospital but in 1547 became a parish church for those who resided within the hospital's precincts. The interior (picture below) was remodelled in the late eighteenth century as a octogan within a square, built in wood and designed by George Dance the Younger. The church was badly damaged in World War II but has since been restored. Many physicians and surgeons from St Bart's Hospital are buried here.
