Wormley Bury

Wormley Bury was originally one of the seventeen manors with which King Harold endowed Waltham Abbey. After the dissolution of the monasteries the manor passed through many hands until the Regency period when it was rented by Sir Abraham Hume, baronet, of Wormley Bury. Wormley Bury itself was a substantial mansion of brick with a handsome portico. Although not extensive, the grounds were very pretty with a Chinese bridge over a sheet of water.
