Belvedere House, near Erith

Belvedere House was the seat of Lord Eardley. The house stood a mile from Erith, the Thames and Lesnes Abbey, on Lesnes (or Leeson) Heath among beautiful gardens and commanded extensive views. The first house to stand on this site was built by George Hayley; the house was subsequently rebuilt by Sir John Eardley Wilmot, Chief Justice of the court of Common Pleas.
