St Mary Somerset, Upper Thames Street

The church of St Mary Somerset (from Somershithe, a nearby wharf on the River Thames) dated from the twelfth century. the church was destroyed in the Great Fire and rebuilt by Wren. It was demolished by Act of Parliament in 1872 (although the tower was saved).
