St Catherine Cree, Leadenhall Street

At the south-east angle of Cree Church Lane, in Leadenhall Street, stood the church of St Catherine* Cree (Cree is a corruption of Christ). The church depicted above was built in 1630, escaped the fire of 1666, and was repaired and beautified in 1805.

*Regency spelling; now it is spelt Katharine.
