Lyon's Inn Hall, Wych Street

Lyon's Inn Hall stood on the south side of Wych Street opposite New Inn. This is an Inn of Chancery, belonging to the Inner Temple. It was anciently a common inn, bearing the sign of the lion, and it is said to have been in the possession of the students and practitioners of the law since 1420. The Inn fell into decay by 1800 and was sold in the 1860s. Australia House now stands on its site.
