The villa of John Rolls, Esq., New Cross, Kent Road

This handsome villa belonging to John Rolls, which stood on the Kent Road near New Cross, had a particularly stately appearance, and its rooms and chambers were of great convenience and elegance. The grounds were most finely laid out and "possessed to the additional gratification of the owner, that they were made out of the marsh land between Rotherhithe and Deptford".
