Marks Hall, Essex

Marks Hall, the manorial residence of the ancient lordship of Marks in the county of Essex, stood about two miles from Romford, east of London. This ancient moated hall composed of timber and plaster was already in a "state of some decay" by the end of the eighteenth century. It was uninhabited, and while most of the furniture was gone, some of the old family portraits still remained.
