Arno's Grove, Southgate

Southgate was a pleasant village on Winchmore Hill, about three miles from Edmonton. It had many large and superior residences, chief among them being Arno's Grove, which in the early nineteenth century was the residence of John Walker, Esq. An ancient house called Arnold's once stood on this site; the house pictured above was built in the 1720s (or perhaps a little later) by James Colebrooke.
