Bruce Castle, Tottenham

According to late eighteenth century lore, this ancient castle located at a short distance from Tottenham, was once the residence of Robert Bruce (father of Robert, the King of Scotland) who died in 1303. The mansion was likely rebuilt during the early sixteenth century, and then again in the late seventeenth so that by the time it was depicted in the engraving above it had been long renovated away from its medieval heritage. In the early nineteenth century John Ede, Esq., resided here.
