A House in Whitton

The property of George Gostling, Esq., in Whitton on the edge of Hounslow-heath, a hamlet in the parish of Twickenham. The gardens were laid out by a former owner, the Duke of Argyle, in the eighteenth century. J Norris Brewer described this house as a "most pleasing ornament in a neighbourhood whose natural scenery is so flat that the finest touches of art are necessary to the production of any semblance of beauty".
