Carn Wood (Kenwood) between Hampstead and Highgate

Kenwood mansion (or Caen or Cane Wood as it was known in the eighteenth century) situated north-east of the village and heath of Hampstead. This was the seat of the Earl of Mansfield. The grounds, "rich in circumstances of natural beauty", comprised some fifty acres of which some twenty-two acres comprised the reservoirs of the Hampstead water-works.
