The Treasury and Horse Guards, showing a piece of ordnance

taken by British troops in Egypt.

The Horse Guards adjoins the former tiltyard of Whitehall Palace. The building pictured above was built during the mid-eighteenth century. The ordnance taken by British troops undoubtedly refers to some spoils of the Napoleonic wars. The Treasury building pictured here to the right and also below was replaced in 1845.
