Mercers' Hall c. 1825

Mercer's Hall and Chapel, Cheapside stands on a spot once occupied by a hospital; dedicated to St Thomas of Acors, or Acons. On the dissolution of the monasteries the Mercers' Company purchased the property. The original building burned down in the Great Fire of London and the one depicted above erected shortly thereafter. The entrance was from Ironmonger Lane.
